Message from our managing partner, Ron Karp
The past few years have been very gratifying. We were selected by Police Chief Charles Moose to represent him in his First Amendment legal battle to get his book (Three Weeks in October) published After we filed a free speech law suit in federal court we reached an agreement with the county to allow the publication of the book, which subsequently became a New York Times bestseller.
A young lady that I represented in a malpractice suit when she was a baby, came to work at our law firm as an intern. She graduated from high school and was heading to college with funds we secured in her case many years before. Her goal was to be a lawyer and help people as powerless as she was when I represented her. When she left the Firm she wrote a touching paper for her school about her experience at the law firm. It reminded me that representing people who are powerless, left out, left behind and victimized by the negligence of others is not a burden but a privilege. Being a voice for people who have no voice is an honor.
I have had similarly gratifying moments when running into parents at the mall and the supermarket who are sending their children to college with trust funds we secured for them in cases years before.
Changing and positively effecting people's lives are the best source of gratification any professional can receive.
I have recently been engaged in some major truck accident cases, which have been featured on the front page of the Washington Post and on the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. (You can read the Washington Post article and view the NBC Nightly News feature by clicking the respective link on this web page, or on our "Media Coverage of Recent Trucking Accident Cases " web page.)
As we proceed into 2007 and beyond, our firm still is committed to undertaking major cases, changing lives and making justice a reality for our clients.
