Steven VanGrack - is an experienced trial attorney with special emphasis in personal injury. He is also recognized in criminal defense and government relations. 

 

Mr. VanGrack has had great success in many large automobile collisions, medical malpractice, wrongful death, dog attacks, sexual abuse and police brutality cases. He also has significant experience representing students as well as Olympic and professional athletes.

 

Steven VanGrack has been extremely involved in government and community and legal affairs. He served in the distinguished position of Mayor of the City of Rockville and in 1994 was the Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives from the 8th Congressional District. He has been appointed to boards and commissions by Maryland governors Mandel, Schaefer and Glendening. He presently serves on the Maryland Real Estate Commission where he has served four years as chairperson. Mr. VanGrack is president of MICPEL, the Maryland Institute for the Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers.

 

Steven VanGrack graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1966. He was co-captain of the football and wrestling teams and a member of the track team. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970 from the University of Maryland where he was named Outstanding Graduate. Mr. VanGrack received his Juris Doctor degree in 1974 from the University of Maryland School of Law where he was a participant in the Asper Fellowship Program. In addition to working two years with the United States Department of Justice (primarily in the Civil Division, Appellate Section), Mr. VanGrack served as law clerk to the Honorable Joseph M. Mathias, Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland.

 

A former instructor at Montgomery College, his contributions to his community are recognized throughout Maryland . He received the Montgomery County Bar Foundation's Pro Bono Service Award in 1998 and was recognized in 1999 for his "Extraordinary commitment to the Delivery of Legal Services." He was the recipient of the 2001 Montgomery County Commission on Children and Youth Award for Outstanding Service to Youth. In 2002 the Maryland Bar Foundation honored Mr. VanGrack with its annual Award for Legal Excellence in the Advancement of Public Service Responsibility. In 2003 The Woman's Bar Association of Maryland presented its first annual pro bono award to Steven VanGrack. In 2004 The Daily Record selected Mr. VanGrack as the recipients of the Leadership in Law Awards.

 

Steven VanGrack provided free legal services to several families whose loved ones were killed in the terrorist attacks at the Pentagon and the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. He was recognized for this committment by the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

 

Steven VanGrack has received formal education and training as a mediator and is certified. He has served as a mediator in the District and Circuit Courts.
