Military and Federal Employee Claims

Washington, DC-based military claims lawyers

Karp Frosh represents military personnel and their families with medical malpractice and other types of claims under—

  • The Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), which allows military personnel and their dependents to file claims against the federal government for injuries caused by medical malpractice in military facilities within the United States
  • The Military Claims Act (MCA), which allows the filing of similar claims for injuries caused by medical malpractice in U.S. military facilities located abroad

If you or one of your dependents has been the victim of medical negligence under these circumstances, Karp Frosh may be able to assist you regardless of the state in which you currently live.  Even if we do not have a lawyer on staff who is admitted to practice in your state, we still can handle these matters with the assistance of local counsel.

Many of the major decisions resolving these military-related claims are made in Washington, DC—where Karp Frosh has offices—by personnel in the Department of Justice for FTCA claims and in the Department of Defense for MCA claims.  We handle FTCA and MCA cases on a contingent fee basis, so that you pay no legal fees unless and until the firm secures a recovery for you.

Help for civilian federal employees injured on the job

We also represent civilian federal employees who are injured in the course of their employment, and whose injuries are covered by the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA).  FECA provides federal employees injured in the performance of duty with workers compensation benefits, which include—

  • Total or partial disability benefits
  • Wage-loss benefits
  • Monetary benefits for permanent loss of use of a schedule member
  • Medical benefits
  • Vocational rehabilitation
  • Survivor benefits to dependents if the injury causes the employee's death
The FECA is administered by the Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP).  Note that there are time limits for giving notice of the injury and applying for these benefits, so it is important to speak with a qualified lawyer as soon as possible.

State Department employees affected by terrorist acts

In addition to handling medical malpractice claims and workers compensation cases against the federal government, Karp Frosh is proud to have been selected to represent U.S. State Department employees victimized by terrorist activities.
