Terrorism-Related Claims

State Department employees injured in attacks

In addition to handling military medical malpractice claims and civilian government workers compensation cases to claim benefits from the federal government, Karp, Frosh, Lapidus, Wigodsky & Norwind, P.A. is proud to have been selected to represent U.S. State Department employees who were victims of the U.S. Embassy bombing in Kenya in 1988.

About 213 people died and many more were injured or suffered loss of loved ones nearly 22 years ago.  These victims are Americans, Kenyans, and Tanzanians—some living here and some overseas.  In the aftermath of the terrorist blast, the United States and Kenya have been sharing intelligence to ensure such attacks are not repeated.  But, the U.S. Congress has not passed legislation to authorize special compensation for victims of the 1998 bombings, and to date, no victim has received any such special compensation.  Karp Frosh is determined to change that.

Victims not covered by 9/11 Compensation Fund

Although catastrophically injured as a result of a terrorist attack, these bomb blast victims were not included in the 9/11 Compensation Fund.  The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and other major news outlets have highlighted the plight of these victims.  In testimony before a U.S. Senate committee, former Secretary of State Colin Powell referred to our clients when he stated, "We have to do a better job of taking care of people, such as that brave soldier of the State Department.  They go into harm's way every day just as much as any one of the men and women in our Armed Forces."   Karp Frosh is determined to set this right.  The fight is ongoing.
